The father from Baby RB is fighting against the mother and the hospital for turning off the life support machines. The mother said to the Sun that it is cruel to keep the baby alive. She wants to save him living a poor, miserable and sad life. The baby doesn't really have a life quality. The baby has since his birth, a year ago, a seldom congenital myasthenic syndrome (CMS) which means that he can't breath independently and can't move his fingers. The father has another opinion about that. He thinks that Baby RB has a good chance to have a good life quality like the other 300 cases which are listed in the UK. The fight went to the High Court where they want to render the judgement. There is no decision yet...

So what do you think? Is it sustainable to kill the baby or do you think you should keep him alive? Please make a comment on my philosophy blog

Well if you are certain that the baby will live normally you should let him live. Only if his issue could lead him to a life linked to a machine in a hospital, or something that will cause him to have a gapped life because of a treatment, it's cruel to let him start his life.
ReplyDeleteColdly thinking, if Nature didn't give him enough self mechanisms to live, human can't pretend be God and try to save his life...
But if you look at it from a moral point of view, every human, no matter how he/she is, has the right to live, because all of us have equal opportunities.
Personally i sit on the fence in this argument, both solutions are cruel... Die or live in pain?
The only agreed option is make him live without complications...
